Aurinka pretende abrir fábrica de módulos solares de 300 MW na Espanha

Spanish solar manufacturer Aurinka is planning to build a solar module production plant at a specific undisclosed location in the Aragonese region of eastern Spain. "In our opinion, the volatile geopolitical situation creates a good backdrop for the return of manufacturing to Spain," the company's CEO told pv magazine, noting that strong demand for solar products and high shipping costs were also two factors in the decision to build the factory a decisive factor. "Construction will depend on the 1.2 GW solar project we are currently developing in Andorra."

Llaneza added: "Another pillar of the Aurinka project, not related to the Andorra project, includes the construction of a facility to repair second-life panels or to recycle components that cannot be repaired. The exact location is yet to be determined, but logistics will be a key factors to consider."

Aurinka has been investing in research and development for over two years. "We are looking for an economically and technically feasible solution, respecting the environment and following the criteria of a circular economy. We do not want to choose solutions that are environmentally damaging, using PV modules with low material recycling rates. We are developing our own technology , enabling almost 100 percent recycling of the component material." Aurinka also intends to produce meta-metallurgical grade silicon in Puertollano, in Castilla-La Mancha, central Spain. The company says its patented low-carbon production process enables low enough manufacturing costs to rival its Asian rivals.
